A series of FREE monthly business networking events are being organised by Derbyshire Institute of Sport at its base at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road campus.

Each month there is time for businesses to network over a hot drink and make new connections before hearing a talk by a DIS expert followed by a Q&A with an athlete, or sometimes two!

The next meeting on Wednesday evening, November 20, will look at Preparing to Perform. The speaker will be DIS’s lead strength and conditioning coach Laura Wake. Laura is a 400m runner who competed for Team England in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Business can arrive from 6pm at the Sports Centre at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road campus. Parking is free.

Many of the businesses that attend are already sponsors or supporters of DIS – a unique organisation that gives talented athletes the best chance of becoming world class and representing Team GB at world championships, the Olympics and the Commonwealth Game. But ALL businesses and sole traders are encouraged to attend if they want to find out more about the opportunities to support DIS and its athletes.

They will learn how their business can benefit from an association with high- performing athletes as well as seeing how DIS sponsors and supporters are making a difference to young people in Derbyshire with the potential to be medal winners.

The Connect evenings are being sponsored by Derby telecommunications company Invictus Communications, meaning that they are free to attend, but pre-booking is essential because places are limited.
